Overcoming Film Equipment Concerns

Like most ambitious filmmakers, I also had the same worries before deciding to start shooting my first feature-length film in 2015, ‘Electrician’. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to make a film without a professional-grade cinema camera and a whole slew of other pricey tools for equipment.

It took a while for me to dispel those concerns and free myself to commence with my project.

Ultimately, by using the equipment that I had available to me at the time, which did not include a high-end cinema camera, I successfully produced a film that found its way on UK television screens, online film streaming platforms, and even a large cinema screening. I mention this not to boast, but rather to alleviate any apprehensions you may have about not having the most advanced or “ideal” filming equipment at your disposal.

Download the short bite-sized 4 page free PDF I’ve provided that delves deeper into equipment-related considerations.

My attempt with it is to share with you what my thought-process and decision making was around this area, and to give you more self-confidence and a sense of control over the completion of your own film project.
